I read this book in one sitting while supposedly watching the last game of the World Series. It is an intense book, the movingly told drama of a child orphaned by the shootings in the square at Archbishop Romero's funeral in San Salvador. As he tries to learn what happened to his mother, he returns to his village in the North and finds himself the captive of first the guerrillas and then the army. It is a story of courage, love of family, and faith.
